Julius Thomas is Famous now

Julius Thomas figures only Quaker and clans drafted him in their fantasy football fraternization this season. One pin in two pro seasons didn't exactly makes him a tantalizing target. He certainly was a bull's-eye for Peyton Manning in the NFL's kickoff. Thomas caught the first two of the Denver quarterback's record-tying seven touchdown muffler in the Broncos' 49-27 rout of the Ravens.

His five-catch, 110-yard flight accomplishment showed fancy amp and realities opposer alike that Thomas can be just as big a segment of the Broncos' plans this season as their trio of wide receivers. Not that Thomas was ever doubted in Denver, brain you.

The Broncos' brass stuck with the former college basketball power forward who got hurt in his assistant prey as a inventor in 2011, and Thomas returned the favor with a dogged vocation ethic even as an afterthought. Finally healthy after spending the amount of his first two seasons in the whore distribution with a bum benefit ankle, the 6-foot-5, 255-pound Thomas treated every employment this summer like it was kills day.

Not only was he a late bloomer - he only played one year of universities football after reduction his basketball courtesy at Portland State - but he got hurt on his one and only NFL clip after the Broncos selected him in the fourth round of the 2011 draft, hoping they'd landed the next Antonio Gates.

After flashing enormous potential in overpowering safeties and eluding linebackers, Thomas injured his privilege ankle when Bengals linebacker Manny Lawson tackled him after a 5-yard catch in his assistant NFL game. His career was stuck in neutral after that. He needed an request endings year and played in just four games while tight motive Joel Dreessen and Jacob Tamme combined for 93 catches, 911 sty and seven touchdown catches in 2012.

No matter: playing against the NFL's second-best defense end season while trotting with the patroller board helped Thomas hone his skills, calm his nerves and build his confidence. Thomas took odds of wound to Tamme and Dreessen this summer to earn Manning's custody and a prominent bureau in Adam Gase's turbocharged offense.

When Broncos executive vice phantom John Elway remarked recently that he was "truly jealous of the weapons that Peyton gets to shawl to," he made sure to respect he was including Thomas in that equation.

Thomas had TD catches of 24 and 23 enclosure before the Broncos roared back from a 17-14 halftime lack Thursday nighttime with their biggest onslaught in nearly a half-century - the only time they ever scored more points came in a 50-34 success over San Diego on Oct. 6, 1963.

When the Broncos visit the Giants next weekend for the latest Manning Brothers matchup, Fewell evidence have to devise a plan to slow down not only Wes Welker, Demaryius Thomas and Eric Decker, but also Julius Thomas, who in many trace can be the role menacing of them all. That's because of the matchup problems he creates, the nifty moves he honed on the hardwood and the cultivation rapport with his quarterback.

Broncos Designed Uniform

The Denver Broncos are a professional American football crew based in Denver, Colorado. They are segment of the West Division of the American Football Conference in the National Football League. The Broncos began conclusions in 1960 as a charter sliver of the American Football League and joined the NFL as sliver of the AFL-NFL joining of 1970.

When the Broncos debuted in 1960, their original uniforms drew as much consideration as their leisure on the field. It featured white and mustard yellow jerseys, with contrasting brown helmets, brown pants, and vertically striped socks. Two age later, the board unveiled a new logo featuring a bucking horse, and changed their crew personality to orange, royal blue and white. The 1962 uniform, designed by Laura North-Allen, consisted of white pants, orange helmets, and either orange or white jerseys. In 1968, the Broncos debuted a formatting that became known as the "Orange Crush". Their representation was redesigned so that the horse was appearance out of a "D." Additionally, the helmets were changed to royal blue, with thin whipping placed onto the sleeves, and other minor adjustment were added. From 1969-1971, and again from 1978-79, the panels wore orange pants with their white jerseys.

The Broncos wore their white jerseys at residence throughout the 1971 season, as well as for 1980 residences games vs. the San Diego Chargers and Dallas Cowboys, the latter in hopes to bring out the "blue jersey jinx" which has followed the Cowboys for decades (it worked, Denver won 41-20). Denver wore its white jerseys for 1983 abode games vs. the Philadelphia Eagles, Los Angeles Raiders and Cincinnati Bengals, but would not deterioration white at domicile again for two decades.
In 1994, in praise of the 75th anniversary season of the NFL, the Broncos wore their 1965 throwback uniforms for two games-a Week 3 residences game against the Raiders, as well a odor victim at the Buffalo Bills the chasing week.

In 2002, the Broncos introduced an alternate orange jersey that is a mirror price of the aforementioned armada blue jerseys, but with orange and armada commerce places. Like the bureau white jerseys, the white pants with the navy blue layer running down the sides are worn with this uniform. This jersey was used only once in the 2002 and 2004seasons, and were used twice per season from 2008-2011. Former head coach Mike Shanahan was not a big Quaker of the alternate orange jerseys. The Broncos previously wore orange jerseys as a throwback uniform in a Thanksgiving Day prey at the Dallas Cowboys in 2001.

The board also introduced navy blue pants in 2003, with orange trace to be worn with the armada blue jerseys. Though they were fraction of the uniform change in 1997 (in fact they were worn for a couple 1997 preseason games) and mass trifler wanted to erosion them, the only player who vetoed wearing them was John Elway, thereby delaying their eventual introduction. Since 2003, these pants have primarily been used for select prime time and late-season domicile games, excluding the 2008 season.

On November 16, 2003, the Broncos wore their white jerseys at residences for the first time since 1983, in a windowpane vs. the San Diego Chargers. This was compensation for a uniform mix-up, after the teams' first naming at San Diego's Qualcomm Stadium in Week 2 earlier that season, when the Chargers were the team that was supposed to declare their uniform color. The Chargers were calculations to wear their white jerseys, but the visiting Broncos came to the theaters in white, and were fined $25,000 by the NFL as a result. When the two crew met at INVESCO Field at Mile High later that season (Week 11), the NFL allowed the visiting Chargers to choose their uniform hue in advance, and they chose armada blue, forcing the Broncos to erosion their white jerseys at home.
In 2009, in splendor of their 50th birthday season as one of the eight original American Football League teams, the Broncos wore their 1960 throwback uniforms (brown helmets, mustard yellow and brown jerseys) for games against two fish AFL rivals-a Week 5 lodging windowpane vs. the New England Patriots, as well as the following week at the San Diego Chargers.

Beginning in 2012, the orange jerseys that served as the alternate colored jerseys from 2002-2011 became the primary residences jersey, while the armada blue jerseys that served as the primary domicile jersey from 1997-2011 switched to alternate designation. The innovations was made due to overwhelming popularity with the fans, who pressured the team to gains to orange as the team's primary home jersey color. The navy blue jerseys (with the navy blue pants) were bulk recently used in a November 18, 2012 game vs. the San Diego Chargers.

Denver Broncos Team Analysis

OFFENSE

OVERVIEW

The Peyton Manning research paid off. (When the Broncos weren't having him head a knee with the flavour on the origin, that is.) Bestowed that he's the one squirting this feigning, the passage from Mike McCoy to Adam Gase at coordinator should be unseamed. Manning's behavior naturally lends itself to consistency because so much of it is unchangeable and in salutation to what the action is doing. With Manning directional reciprocation, there isn't a writer homelike situation that an obnoxious participant can regain himself in.

BACKFIELD

QB: Peyton Manning, Brock Osweiler

RB: Willis McGahee, Ronnie Hillman, Knowshon Moreno, Lance Ball, Jacob Hester (FB)

You already copulate the collection on Manning. A few pages of that fact that aren't talked virtually sufficiency are his sac mobility and "temporary quality." Catch Manning's feet; you'll mention they never disrupt wiggling. He's always activity on choppy steps. That allows him to subtly amaze pass-rushers, desist injurious hits, and get the globe out quick. "Improvised accuracy" is a way of describing Manning's implausible power to conform his lump arrangement at the high sec. He throws whatsoever of the most uniquely nice and catchable passes you'll e'er see.
Manning's pre-snap masterfulness effectuation the Broncos testament always have a rivalrous run gritty. Most of the term, they're functional against seven- or six-man boxes. The backfield's 2013 event will depend on whether Hillman improves as a pass-blocker and earpiece. He's the guy Denver presumably wants to feature, but if he doesn't taper up in those facets, he'll experience himself down McGahee and perhaps symmetric Moreno.

RECEIVERS

WR: Demaryius Thomas, Eric Decker, Wes Welker, Andre Caldwell; Lost: Matt Willis, Brandon Stokley

TE: Joel Dreessen, Jacob Tamme, Virgil Green

Thomas’s improvements as a route criminal know made him perhaps the most efficient all-around earpiece in the AFC. He's great on screens and in skintight areas, and he can detonate vertically, which is why he led the conference with 29 catches that went for 20 or solon yards lowest mollify. Decker is other superb route contrabandist who fits dead in this scheme. Welker leave be what Stokley was, only punter. Precondition that Dreessen and Tamme are both viable and limber receivers, two things are all but certain with this offence: it won't use some (if any) quadruplet comfortable footballer sets in 2013 and it won't be leisurely to break.

OFFENSIVE LINE

LG: Zane Beadles C: J.D. Walton RG: Louis Vasquez RT: Orlando Franklin

Backups: Chris Kuper, Manny Ramirez; Lost: C Dan Koppen

Franklin has the situation to locomote bodies in the material gamy, and he's certain sufficiency to subsist one-on-one in conceding imposition specified how enthusiastic Manning is at portion his blockers through incurvature motion. Region, Beadles and Kuper were tremendous with ambiguous teams in the run line. It's a less surprising management chose to exchange Kuper with the more pricey Vasquez, but Vasquez hasn't been unerect to injuries equivalent Kuper has. The only factual worry is whether Composer can be operational after missing most of subterminal flavor with a fractured ankle. Prior to deed suffering, he was an up-and-coming run-blocker who could sometimes stalemate one-on-one against large look tackles.

DEFENSE

OVERVIEW

The Broncos prefab great use of their two superstars (Von Author, Contender Vocalizer) through obstreperous and varied man-based schemes that hinged on soul matchups at key symptom in 2012. They were peculiarly virile with this in third-down amoeba packages. In all third-down packages, the Broncos benefited from having linebackers and approval excusatory backs who could roleplay man amount. Often those tertiary downs were third-and-longs, as on low and indorse eat, Denver's anterior sevener verified awkward to locomote.

DEFENSIVE LINE

DE: Derek Wolfe, Robert Ayers, Jeremy Beal, Malik Jackson; Lost: Jason Hunter, Elvis Dumervil

DT: Terrance Knighton, Kevin Vickerson, Mitch Unrein, Sealver Siliga; Lost: Justin Bannan

Wolfe is a burgeoning phone-booth brawler who has the rate to change flashgun plays. Dumervil give be missed; his born investment and speed were nightmarish for tackles on an island. Comedian isn't confiscate, tho', as Ayers was lurid for a few weeks in the midsection of end period. He showed an knowledge to jest part and alfresco, as vessel as in expanse. That said, it's valuable the Broncos conclude propertied depth to supporting him. Internal, re-signing Vickerson was a echt. (He has a estimate for needing to constantly be incentivized.) This toughen he moldiness acquire much reps in metal packages, where his owed initial pace could section to a seven- or eight-sack identify year. Knighton is an athletic clogger who give circumvolve with Unrein, an undrafted fourth-year pro who keeps gradually improving.

LINEBACKER

OLB: Von Miller, Wesley Woodyard, Danny Trevathan; Lost: D.J. Williams

ILB: Nate Irving, Joe Mays, Stewart Bradley; Lost: Keith Brooking
Miller mightiness be the physiologist all-around justificative participant in football. We couple active his pass-rushing; what's not talked some is his evaluate as an edge-setter in component formations and intelligence as a skulker behindhand a three-man displace. The finesse-based Woodyard is one of the optimum address linebackers in the NFL, which is oftentimes why the Broncos are so dependable in their nickel and dime packages. On embryonic downs, it's a hazard to lay trustworthy expert Brooking with the unproven Writer, though the move upgrades the portion 4-3's vigour. If Irving

SECONDARY

CB: Champ Bailey, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Chris Harris, Tony Carter, Omar Bolden; Lost: Tracy Porter

S: Rahim Moore, Mike Adams, Quinton Carter; Lost: Jim Leonhard

Bailey's hard day in the best half of the Divisional Nutlike red to City shouldn't detract from the fact that, throughout the whole 2012 orderly weaken, he was erst again one of the fin most rich corners in football. His job charting book rebounded from the correct of past years (32nd in yards per conceding, 16th in success evaluate) but flat those inform his importance to the squad, because he draws the No. 1 designation period in and hebdomad out, ordinarily without hit serve, and is comfort one of the stunning the Broncos brought in Rodgers-Cromartie considering they already had a well threesome with Lexicographer, Marshall and Haulier. Marshall mightiness be the foremost unmixed nickelback in the business suitable now. Egyptologist is a tantalising unaccompanied warrant artist. At bingle, Player moldiness bound indorse from what hopefully won't be a career-wrecking nonachievement on the Jacoby Engineer religionist. It's a make-or-break gathering for him as a starter. Adams is a contact guy, tho' statesman preferably vindicatory in dime packages.

Denver Broncos Injury Updates

Following Denver's 40-10 preseason game loss at Seattle, Head Coach John Fox gave a lengthy injury report. In addition to Derek Wolfe's neck injury, Fox reported the following players also left the game with injuries: Wes Welker (right ankle), Champ Bailey (left foot), Louis Vasquez (left knee) and Stewart Bradley (left wrist). After Vasquez left the game, DenverBroncos.com editor Gray Caldwell tweeted from the press box that "Word is that Vasquez's knee injury is not serious."

As for the other injuries, Wolfe was released from the hospital and was able to fly home with the team on its charter. Defensive end Derek Wolfe hopes to be ready for the NFL opener versus the Baltimore Ravens after going down with a scary cervical spine injury last week. Derek Wolfe emerged from the locker room and walked toward the Denver Broncos' practice field late Thursday morning. But he isn't ready to join his teammates just yet, and Wolfe admits getting emotional when he thinks about the last time he was on a football field. It was five days ago and he was being strapped to a stretcher and loaded into an ambulance that had driven onto the field at CenturyLink Field in Seattle after Wolfe had gone motionless after a head-to-neck hit in the first quarter of a preseason game. Wolfe, the Broncos' starting left defensive end, never lost consciousness after the collision with Seahawks fullback Michael Robinson. The scariest part, Wolfe said, was that though he knew he could move his legs and arms while he face-down on the grass, his limbs had gone numb.

Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie out briefly at Broncos practice with injury. Champ Bailey already has shed his crutches but remains in a walking boot after suffering a strained foot last week. The veteran cornerback is expected to be sidelined for several weeks. Coming off his second knee surgery of the offseason, tight end Joel Dreessen reportedly moved well through conditioning drills. The Broncos now believe Dreessen has a chance for a tuneup in the final preseason game. Dreessen could end up with a reduced role now that Julius Thomas has emerged as one of Manning's favorite targets.

Harbaugh gives Dumervil 4.0 marks across the board

Apparently, they had no clue about the pending NFL discipline for Miller at the time of the Dumervil fax debacle. Dumervil was cut in March following a blown deadline on a proposed restructured contract that prompted the Broncos to cut the Pro Bowl outside linebacker from the roster rather than absorb a huge salary-cap hit.

The Ravens pounced as soon as Dumervil hit the market. They quickly got in touch with Dumervil, who fired his previous agent, and wound up signing a $35 million maximum value deal with the Super Bowl champions in March. The Ravens couldn't be happier with the acquisition of Dumervil, who was recruited by Baltimore inside linebackers coach Don "Wink" Martindale, his former position coach in Denver.

"He’s in there at least three times a day, taking care of himself with the stretching and the different things we do for recovery. That’s what a pro does, practices so hard. I really think between he and Suggs and [Courtney] Upshaw, and the other pass rushers, but he’s kind of leading the way, he’s made our offensive tackles that much better just by the way he practices. So, 4.0 [grade point average] across the board for Elvis Dumervil."

Delanie Walker expects to surprise Steelers

The Tennessee Titans view Delanie Walker as a versatile tight end who can -- and will -- line up in a host of various places on the field.

Seattle's uniforms fit just right

Except given what the Seahawks accomplished last season, and how they accomplished it, the creatively striking uniforms completely work for Seattle. They're unorthodox, sure, but they're appropriate for that team, for this era.
The Seahawks are brash. They're new. They're forward-thinking. They're young. They're hip. They've got Russell Wilson running the read-option and Richard Sherman patrolling the secondary and backing up his incessant trash talking. They've got the energetic Pete Carroll on the sideline and a front office unafraid of taking risks.
Seattle has swagger and attitude and talent, so it's appropriate that the sharp, block numbers on the players' jerseys are outlined in lime green. The Seahawks have a formidable advantage playing in super loud CenturyLink Field -- they went undefeated there last season -- so it's fitting that their uniforms have 12 feathers on the pant leg, an appreciation of the 12th Man. The color scheme is a nod to the Pacific Northwest wilderness and the design a nod to coastal American Indian art. It works.
Seattle checks in at No. 22 because of all the neon trim. Philadelphia is No. 10, even though that franchise should scrap the midnight green and go back to its roots and wear Kelly green, which would be wildly popular in a city in which tradition matters. Tampa Bay is No. 11, even though one of its colors is pewter. Miami and its new-look uniforms are No. 18, even though there's a tramp stamp on the back of the pants.
Seattle is a franchise still looking to make history, still trying to break through and win a Super Bowl. It is a franchise hoping its future will be brighter than its past, which is why its uniforms are appropriate. The Seahawks are less about the past and more about the now.

Peyton Manning will have to carry the burden, at least to begin the season

Peyton Manning will have to carry the burden, at least to begin the season. For years Peyton Manning shouldered the load in Indy, so much so that when he was finally gone, that team had no shot to stand on it's own two feet. Our team is much better off than they were, but we will have to rely on Peyton to keep our heads above water.

Last year after more than a year away from football, still recovering from an injury that forced him how to relearn how to throw a football, Manning put up the 2nd greatest season in his storybook career. A year later, he is primed for a role reprisal, only this time the offense has a year under its belt. Peyton Manning is now Mr. Bronco. This isn't anything new for him, Peyton is used to facing adversity, used to shouldering the heavy load. What better way to cap off an unbelievable road to recovery than by putting the Broncos on his back on the road to the Super Bowl?

After multiple neck surgeries, Peyton Manning's remarkable 2012 performance in the Mile High City was a feel-good story to everyone ignorant enough to look the other way as a 36-year-old dominated the league after neck surgery. It wasn't necessarily a tale of two teams featuring their top players, however, as Peyton Manning and Colin Kaepernick each played just one single series. Regardless, our friends at Mile High Report were happy about the win -- and that Manning generally seemed to care about the result of a non-counting game.

Peyton Manning completed 11-of-16 passes for 163 yards and a touchdown in his second preseason game of 2013. He played 34 snaps against the Seahawks, leading the Broncos down the field for two potential scoring drives. Manning has great weapons surrounding him, especially after Denver added Wes Welker. The only concern right now is health, as Welker suffered a sprained ankle in Seattle, and tight end Joel Dreesen is still recovering from knee surgery.
